IRSP's Paul Little with two children of TKP(ML) death faster.

The IRSP is in the midst of re-examining and commemorating the 1981 hunger strike which took the lives of three INLA comrades and seven of the IRA prisoners with whom they undertook the hunger strike. This reflection on the 1981 hunger strike, the memory of those times, and the recognition of its importance to our movement has made us particularily sensitive to the ongoing death fast waged by revolutionary political prisoners in Turkey.
For several years now we have been building our relationship with the DHKC-P and Terry Harkin of the IRSP's International Department recently travelled to Turkey as a witness to the struggle of the death fasters. He was profoundly moved by the experience and it brought back to him memories of 1981 very vividly.
Because we feel that we have direct experience that allows us to understand the tremendous impact a hunger strike has on the community of supporters outside the jail walls, we have felt compelled to make our solidarity efforts with the Turkish prisoners a central focus of our present efforts.
