Comrades:

The Officers, Staff and Volunteers of the Irish National Liberation Army; and the Ard Comhairle, Area Executives and membership of the Irish Republican Socialist Party extend to you the comrades and the family of Comrade Ugur Turkmens our deepest heartfelt sympathy on his death in the ongoing struggle for socialism and against the F category prisons designed to break that struggle.

His courage and commitment will, along with his comrades who have gone before him, continue to inspire not just the Turkish people but people everywhere. From this day on when we remember our own comrades who fell in action or behind the black H Block wall the name of Ugur Turkmens and his comrades will live in our hearts.

A little comfort may be gleaned from the last words of Volunteer Patsy O' Hara INLA who gave his life on the death fast 20 years ago last week when told by his mother that she would save his life when he lost consciousness he said:

"I'm sorry Mammy we didn't win, please Mammy let the fight go on."

The fight went on and goes on.

"As all rivers flow to the sea. So all red hearts turn to the sun."

Terry Harkin,
Ard Comhairle, IRSP
