James Daly, widower of Miriam Daly, second Chairperson of the IRSP, one-time Chairperson of the National H-Block/Armagh Committees, and martyred member of the IRSM, killed by the SAS in 1980, was the keynote speaker at the unveiling of a new Irish Republican Socialist Memorial in Belfast on Sunday, September 27th.
The dedication of the new monument, which bears the names of all those who have fallen in the struggle for Irish national liberation and socialism as a part of the IRSM, as well as the names of all of the ten martyrs of the 1981 hunger strike, drew a respectable gathering of approximately 400 people. Most of the families of the fallen volunteers were present at the event, as were members of a number of the hunger strikers' families. |
