IRSC New Year's Message
1 January 1998

The following message was issued by the North American Coordinator of the Irish Republican Socialist Committees:

The Irish Republican Socialist Committees of North America extend New Year's greetings to all those engaged in support for the Irish national liberation struggle, as well as those engaged in fighting for the liberation of the working class throughout the world.

As Engels once remarked, while the struggle of the working class is international in nature, the battle will be waged nation by nation, and we in the IRSCNA recognize that those who strive in class struggle in the many nations of the world are our sisters and brothers. The victory of any of our struggles is a victory of for all of us, while the continued oppression of any of us leaves all of us yet unfree.

Whether Kurd, Palestinian, Mayan, or Maori; Hawaiian, Puerto Rican, Lakota, or Basque, those who struggle against imperialism are our sisters and brothers. Whether Scottish, Welsh, Breton, or Irish, all who engage in the fight for national liberation are comrades to us. Whether as women, gays, lesbians, national minorities, workers, or prisoners, those who fight oppression are our friends. Whether communists, socialists, anarchists, or syndicalists, those who strive for revolutionary change are our comrades. With our enemies united against us, surely no truer sentiment can be expressed than that of the old saying: "We must all hang together, or we shall surely all hang separately.

We wish all our sisters and brothers, friends, and comrades a joyous and revolutionary New Year.

Saoirse Go Deo!
