The "swift action" on the issue of Irish republican prisoners, and the increased role for the United States in the affairs of Ireland were both witnessed today, when US District Court Judge Charles Legge rule that Pol Brennan, Terry Kirby, and Kevin Artt should be extradited to Britain. The ruling was just one of many such spectacles to have taken place in US courts in recent years, as Irish republicans have been ordered deported, extradited, and jailed at the behest of Britain, by their staunch ally, the United States. Despite the three men having demostrated that they did not pose flight risks during lengthy periods free on bail, the judge revoked their bail upon sentencing, again separating them from the families and friends in a move that can only be called punitive. The Irish Republican Socialist Committees of North America reiterate our support of the three republican prisoners, and join our voices with the many of supporters of the "H-Block Four" (including the alreay extradited Jimmy Smyth, whose experience during the prison guard riot in Long Kesh demonstrated the validity of the remaining three's defense - that they would be subjected to violent reprisal if returned to the six counties of occupied Ireland. The IRSC, NA further uses this example of "American justice" to draw attention to its demand that the US Government stay out of Irish affairs. The resolution of Ireland's problems are matters to be resolved by the people of Ireland, and there is alreay one too many foreign governments involved in the matter - that being the British government. The US Government clearly is not an impartial party in the ongoing war of national liberation in Ireland, and it cannot be expected to act as such.
